Hunt Details-December 2022-January 2023 Season
Ernie, Ralph and Gary are excited to have the opportunity to return to Jucaros for the upcoming season. The hunts on Jucaros went very well in January 2022 and we had a great meeting after the season with the ranch owner and the cowboy who runs the ranch.
Before we get into hunt specifics, here are a few things you should know about the ranch:
-The ranch is isolated. The trip to the ranch house from the small town of Banamichi takes about 2.5 hours. The road is pretty good right outside of town, but as we climb into the mountains it gets rougher and rougher.
-Phone service on the ranch is limited at best. There are a couple of spots where you can send and receive phone calls, but you will not be able to send or receive texts or emails while on the ranch. We do have a satellite messenger if you need to keep in contact with friends and family.
-The ranch is a working cattle ranch with everything a Coues deer could need. We stay in a rustic ranch house; its not fancy but it will keep you dry and warm.
-We enter the ranch at a relative high point that has classic Coues oak tree habitat. The lower parts have ocotillo thickets that Coues deer absolutely love. The transition zones between those two habitats include a couple of big, steep canyons with plenty of springs and man-made water catchments.
-The road and the isolation are not for everybody, but it sure helps the overall health of the deer herd. If you are looking for a true Sonoran Coues adventure, this could be the trip for you!
Trip Details:
We are sold out on Jucaros for a trip that runs from December 28-January 4. December 28 is a full day of travel from Tucson to the ranch, January 4 is a full day of travel to return. You will have six full days of hunting and this usually pre-rut. If you would like to be added to our waiting list in case of cancellations, let us know!
We will see plenty of bucks as they start keeping tabs on does, raking trees and generally being more active throughout the day.
This is a fully guided hunt. Your guide will drive you from Tucson to the ranch. We use high power binoculars and spotting scopes to help find the kind of buck that you are looking for and in a place where you can have a good shot opportunity. You don’t have to be in “sheep shape” for this kind of hunt, but the more you can hike and the longer you can shoot…the more opportunities you will have.
Our cook will provide all the great Mexican food that you can handle. We provide all of the non-alcoholic beverages, too.
We handle all of the paperwork for your firearm and to get your antlers and cape back into the United States.
The cost of the hunt is $4,800.
If you would like to secure your spot by completing a contract and sending in a deposit, or if you have more questions, contact Gary via email here.
We are also sold out a neighboring ranch for a hunt from January 12-19. Everything in the description above holds true for this trip with one notable exception. This is typically a rut hunt where bucks and does are much more active throughout the day. Please let us know if you would like to be added to that waitlist.

Scouting Trip Report-December 2021
Had a very productive trip to the ranch over the weekend. Plenty of deer in plenty of places. Finding bucks won’t be a problem; the challenge will be finding the buck you want in a place where we can do something about it!
Overall, it was a very productive trip and things are looking very good for our upcoming hunts. Enjoy some pictures below and let me know if you have any questions! Note: The first four images are all of the same buck; always amazing the details you can pick up from different angles.
